P. Gururaja Bhat

Dr. Padoor Gururaja Bhat (1924[1]-?) was a well-known historian[2], archaelogist[3] and researcher[4], who contributed substantially to research of Tulu history.
Bhat hailed from Padoor village of Udupi district. He has done commendable work on the history of Tulu Nadu and also Barkur, the ancient capital of the Tulu kingdom.[5]
He was also the founder-principal of the The Milagres College, Kallianpur.[6][7]

Another book, Temples of Dakshina Kannada, was started by P Gururaj Bhat, but was suspended for a long time after his death. The project was later completed by Prof. Muralidhara Upadhya and Dr. P N Narasimhamurthy[11].
