Pókaszepetk

In 1453 is Pokafalua, in 1773 is Pokafa, in 1262 is Zepetkh. Pokaszepetk formed with the union of the two settlements in 1943. The number of the population is 1002. The village lies on the left side of Zala River, 15 km from Zalaegerszeg. The church of the village is a monument with frescos and curved pews from the beginning of last century in the nave. There is a newly established bell cage greeting the visitors arriving from the direction of Zalaegerszeg. We can bow before the memorial tablet of Elemer Kelemen teacher at the wall of the school. There is an archer club operating in the village in the spirit of the preserving the traditons. Their main possibility for presentation is the "horse-riding day" organized in every August where the competitors could measure their knowledge in prize-jumping and the driving the team of horses. The village has an own rider team, but national traditions are reputed by the handworking and wood-carving clubs as well. The area is famous for its apple, Pokaszepetk is part of the Zalaian Apple Route.
