Pîtres

Pîtres (medieval Pistres) is a French town and commune in the département of Eure and the région of Haute-Normandie. It lies on the Seine. It had a population of 2,290 in 1999.

Historically, it had a bridge to prevent Vikings from sailing up the river to Paris. It was here that King Charles the Bald promulgated the Edict of Pistres in 864.
