Pál Kadosa

Pál Kadosa (1903–1983) was a leading Hungarian composer of the post-Bartók generation. His early style was influenced by Hungarian folklore while his later works were more toward Hindemith and expressively forceful idoms. He was born in Léva. He studied at the national Hungarian Royal Academy of Music under Zoltán Székely and Zoltán Kodály. He taught piano for a lengthy period of time, and his students have included György Ligeti, György Kurtág, Andras Schiff, Zoltán Kocsis, Dezsö Ranki and Jenö Jandó. The latter became his assistant on graduation.
