The shifting of the curve to the left or right (green and red lines) should, around 100% partial pressure of O2, be approximately equal for oxygen saturation. Just think of actually moving the blue line left or right. There would be a large y axis change for a given x axis change toward the steep part of the curve on the left, but on the right, the plateau part of the curve should not have much of a change at all in the y axis for changes in the x axis. However, the way this image is drawn, shifting the curve to the left results in a large y axis increase across the entire graph. (It should only result in a y axis increase on the steep part of the curve.) The inverse goes for the shift to the right/red line. Fivestones 15:23, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
