Oxidative folding

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Oxidative folding can occur only in a protein that may be unfolded conformationally by reducing its disulfide bond(s). In such proteins, the oxidation of its disulfide bond(s) is coupled to its conformational folding. Classic examples of oxidative folding include bovine pancreatic trypsin inhibitor (BPTI) and ribonuclease A (RNase A).
