Oxford Ks. is most widely known for.................nothing. Their outstanding football teams that they produce quite frequently. In the fall of 2006, under the direction of Shawn Burkes, head coach, all knower, all seeer, (seriously, this dude knows everythign) they conquered their rivals during the regular season and won their district 7 championship defeating West Elk 48-12. Because of this victory St. Marys/ Pittsburg-Colgan, the runner up in the battle against Uniontown, traveled to Oxford for the first time in 5 consecutive seasons, all ending up with wins over the Oxford Wildcats. Oxford dominated the grid-iron, absolutely pummeling their opponent. But because of costly turnovers the scoreboard did not show Oxford on top. Final score Oxford 21, Pitt-Colgan 28. The Colgan Panthers would continue to defeat Canton-Galva but lose in the semi-finals to St. Mary.
Oxford is also known for it's outstanding baseball teams. Under the direction of Romney Runyon, the Wildcats have made several state appearances and recently won 3 straight regional titles. Ed Poppelwell continued the tradition of successful Oxford baseball this past spring as he guided the Wildcats to their 6th consecutive class 2-1A baseball tournament.
Oxford also produced an outstanding Boys basketball team this past year. Under the direction of first year Head Coach Kyle Green, the Wildcats finished 18-4 and won the SCBL regular season and tournamnet titles. The Wildcats also produced their first ever boys basketball All State selection in Conner Hampton
