[edit] Removal

Who removed those bands from the Main Stage Saturday section?

I removed the Arctic Monkeys since they've not been confirmed on the Oxegen site, as of yet.Irish goat 22:01, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

I've removed Dj Tiesto from the 2007 lineup as there has been no confirmation from MCD, the Oxegen website or Tiesto.com (where it states he is scheduled to play on 16th June in The Point, which makes an Oxegen appearance unlikely). Still raining here 23:05, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] New Unofficial Oxegen forum

Is it time to mention that a new Unoffical Oxegen forum has been opened in place of the old one? [[1]] looks like it's serious in stamping out any dodgy postings. People probably want to talk about it somewhere. http://www.oxegenforum.com

nope, wiki policy only allows linking to official forums and the like (very occasionally one unofficial one, but it has to be notable... which this isn't). Kaini 17:23, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] youtube links

i've removed the youtube links in this article yet again. whilst WP:EL doesn't prohibit youtube links, it does discourage them because 99% of the time they present copyright problems, and are generally not considered good, encyclopaedic sources. in short: 1. 99% of the time youtube should not be used as a source. 2. we must not link to material that violates someones copyright. --Kaini 18:16, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Speculation is rife

Best not include bands like Arcade Fire unless you can at least provide evidence of rumour. Otherwise I could speculate on other bands that are releasing albums or touring or tipped to be big this year; The Killers, Kaiser Chiefs, Bloc Party, The Bravery, Klaxons, The View, The Good The Bad & The Queen, The Bravery, etc. who are all highly likely to play Oxegen or the Electric Picnic but cannot source any official announcement at the moment. And then there's Michael Jackson who has allegedly come to love Ireland in the last few months... --Candlewicke Consortiums Limited 19:18, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

With the following list posted on the LiveEarth page (see link below)

   * Pharrell
   * Red Hot Chili Peppers
   * Foo Fighters
   * Snoop Dogg
   * Lenny Kravitz
   * Bon Jovi
   * Paolo Nutini
   * Sheryl Crow
   * AFI
   * Melissa Etheridge
   * John Mayer
   * Damien Rice
   * Corinne Bailey Rae
   * Duran Duran
   * Snow Patrol
   * John Legend
   * Black Eyed Peas
   * Akon
   * Enrique Iglesias
   * Fall Out Boy
   * Maná
   * Keane
   * Kelly Clarkson
   * Korn
   * Faith Hill w/ Tim McGraw
   * Bloc Party

(http://liveearth.org/?p=22) I'm beginning to wonder whether Snow Patrol will in fact perform at Oxegen

Apparently like a lot of other bands (Muse for instance), they're going to do both in the same day. Anyway, I remember there was similar confusion about Live 8, but U2 performed early because they had a show in Austria that night as part of their Vertigo Tour and Elton John was playing in Dublin that night. So it's still quite possible that any of those above will play Oxegen, in fact it's probably all the more likely, it's a short enough hop from Hyde Park to Punchestown or to Scotland for T in the Park.
What I dispute is that NME article... can't find it anywhere... --Candlewicke Consortiums Limited 13:43, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] NME.com

Can anyone locate the page on NME.com that states that long list of bands are playing the 2007 festival? --Candlewicke Consortiums Limited 14:32, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

It was in the Oasis special edition in early February rather than on the website although it doesn't appear to have come to anything.--Play Brian Moore 01:06, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] semi-protection

i've requested that this article be semi-protected so IPs and newly registered users can't edit it. the amount of reverting required on the article lately is ridiculous. Kaini 21:10, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

, you might want to change the overcharging article then, the reason the ticket price seems so high is because for the first time this year the government has decided to charge vat tax on all out door concerts, and that includes the oxegen festival !—The preceding unsigned comment was added by an unspecified IP address (talk)

There is some ridiculous non-NPOV content in this article, Including this. 21% (VAT) of €160 is €33.60, making last year's price including VAT €193.60. I couldn't call an addional charge of €3.90 which brings this year's price to €197.50 so extreme. I'm removing this section entirely including the Electric Picnic comparison. Kdivad 09:15, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

agreed. i've removed the offending text again. Kaini 09:59, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
...and again. i've asked the editor who re-added it to discuss it here before adding it again Kaini 14:55, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Too much directly copied directly from Oxegen website

This article is a disgrace, so much of it is copied and pasted without anyone reading it! Example: "On Wednesday February 28, the offical website announced more acts that would be playing as the festival was officially launched. These included The Killers, Mika, Wu-Tang Clan and The Gossip. Dance fans will also be pleased to hear we've also added Deep Dish (Dubfire + Sharam) with special guest Cedric Gervais, Frankie Knuckles, Datarock, Erol Alkan, Booka Shade, Justice, M.A.N.D.Y, Dr.lektroluv and Cagedbaby to the bill"

Keep in mind - "Do not submit copyrighted material without permission. When adding information to articles, make sure it is written in your own words. Remember that all information found on the Internet is copyrighted unless the website specifically states otherwise."

The article being semi-protected doesn't seem to prevent anything. Kdivad 18:19, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

it prevents dumb ip vandalism like this. --Kaini 20:17, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Ocean Colour Scene

They appear to be a shoe in. I know wiki is no rumour mill but could it maybe be added anyway as it appears to be a certain confirmation d'apres their official website?--Play Brian Moore 01:45, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
