Owen Dyke

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Owen Dyke is the bassist and sometimes vocalist for the English art rock band White Rose Movement. He grew up alongside bandmates Finn Vine, Jasper Milton and Edward Harper in a hippy commune in a small village in Norfolk, England.

His flamboyant stage performances always earn him the spotlight during concerts, and he is a powerful member of White Rose Movement as all the songs revolve around his bass lines and Edward Harper's drumming.

[edit] Influences

Sharing many of the same influences as the rest of the band, Owen provides simple basslines, similar in style to those of Joy Division.

[edit] Musical Equipment

Owen uses a rare Fender 1979 Precision Bass coloured with the no-longer used Antigua Burst, affectionately known as "Puke Burst" by many guitarists, because of its colour. The bass has been pretty beat up over the years, as paint has flaked off on parts of the scratchplate and where Owen's plectrum hits the body. Owen prefers using a plectrum because of the more 'powerful' sound it gives compared to using fingers.

He uses an Ampeg SVT amp, but he used to use an unknown amp with a white frame.

He uses a bass overdrive for the song 'Speed'
