Ovum Ltd. was an industry analyst firm headquartered in London, England best known for the publication of technology reports on telecoms and computing. It began operations in 1985 and by 2005 claimed to be the largest technology analyst firm that was headquartered outside of the United States.[1] Having previously been a private company it was listed on AIM in 2006 and was taken over by Datamonitor plc in December 2006, leading to the departure of a number of senior figures.[2]

The original business model was the production of expensive reports sold by direct mail and (subsequently) telephone sales. Analysts would also conduct bespoke studies for clients. As a result of the downturn in the telecoms industry around 2000, Ovum abandoned its direct mail operation and began to publish fewer lengthy reports.
