Overboard (Shipwreckers in North America) is top-down adventure game, released by Psygnosis in November 1997, in which the main character is a pirate ship manned by three pirates in cutscenes. In gameplay, when the ship catches on fire the men jump overboard until the lifebar becomes empty.

Cannon: The cannon comes in two modes, one is the single shot which is fired out of the cannon located in front of the ship, and the other is four simultaneous shots, from either sides of the ship.
Rocket: Has two modes; in the first, it fires out a rocket that launches straight upward; and second, if the ship has taken flight, it fires downwards.
Mine: Drops a mine into the sea, and explodes either after a duration of time, or when another ship touches (including the player's ship).
Lightning: Only can be used when an enemy ship is nearby, unleashing the lightning will cause sparks to shoot out of a lightning rod towards the nearby ship. It's a powerful weapon, but ammunition depletes easily.
Burning oil: Drops a few oil cans onto the sea, and they start burning immediately; will extinguish themselves after a duration of time.
Flamethrower: So long as the fire button is held, it shoots out a jet of flame from either side of the ship.
Oil Tanks: Drops heavy tanks of oil down to the sea, they explode and burn until a ship touches it, or after a duration of time.
The game is sometimes thought of as a strategy game, but it is primarily an adventure game. Overboard also features a multiplayer game in which players compete to sink other players’ ships. This also puts the game into the party-game genre.
Overboard implements many weapons, some quite original. Throughout the game you can pick up boxes to replenish your ammunition.
