Over and Over (The Dave Clark Five song)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Over and Over, written by Robert James Byrd and sung by lead singer and keyboardist Mike Smith, was the only #1 hit for the Dave Clark Five, one of the early British Invasion bands of the mid-1960s whose other hits included Glad All Over, Catch Me If You Can and Bits and Pieces. It followed the group's signature sound of thumping, 4-4 drum beats accompanied by a wailing sax.
The band was immensely popular from 1964 to 1967, ranking up eight songs in the Top 10 and appearing on the Ed Sullivan Show. However, the clean-cut, "preppy" looking group failed to follow the musical trend into psychedelia in the late 1960s and faded quickly from the limelight, except for one comeback song, Here Comes Summer in 1970.
