Ovar (pron. IPA: [o'vaɾ] or [ɔvaɾ]) is a municipality in Portugal with a total area of 147.4 km² and a total population of 56,296 inhabitants, and 42,582 electors (2006).

The municipality is composed of 8 parishes, and is located in the District of Aveiro.

The present Mayor is Manuel Alves Oliveira, elected by the Socialist Party.

The municipal holiday is July 25.
