Ovalle, Chile

In 1831 the city of Ovalle, Chile was founded. One of the reasons for the foundation of this city was the existence of a nucleus of settlers numbering more than three thousand people. The name Ovalle was chosen to honor to late vice-president Jose Tomás Ovalle Bezanilla. Today it belongs to Region IV and it is the capital of the province of Limarí.
