[edit] Trivia Contest

Nice job on the Great Midwest Trivia Contest. I was a trivia master for three years and a tolerated trivia master alumnus for one year. It is always nice to see the old contest get its due. -Acjelen 20:00, 23 May 2005 (UTC)

[edit] "minor" edits on Reason (magazine)

Please only mark edits as "minor" when they genuinely are. Any edit that makes significant changes to an article (expecially adding or removing content) shouldn't be marked "minor"). Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 23:15, 9 Jun 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Karl Kraus

Hi! I noticed that the Karl Kraus english page is really poor, while the german one it way better. I think this huge author deserves more, can you translate some of it? I'm starting to work to the italian version, but I can't speak German. --Mauro 22:41, 11 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging Image:Historic water tower Brainerd.jpg

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Historic water tower Brainerd.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Longhair 01:38, 2 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Brainerd

Thanks for your work on Brainerd, Minnesota. I just came across this news report and decided to look up the place in Wikipedia. Good to see a bit of information on the history of the city.

[edit] License tagging for Image:Yellowbass.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:Yellowbass.gif. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 10:05, 3 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hyperthymesia

In Hyperthymesia, you said that, "deleting improperly formatted citations altogether was not the best fix", but I think that the quoted bits do need a [citation needed] tag. The citations, as they appear now, seem to be a small chunk of a larger paper that DOES has a proper citation page. I thought that perhaps someone had copied part of a school paper. I wanted to put the tags there to make sure that the page was flagged, and the proper sources were credited, because the citations do not make sense as they appear now (to anyone without the numerical listing of works cited in this particular work). What do you think should be done? --Ryan! 05:37, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

Well, I added in all the cites, not from a longer paper but from the Neurocase article cited at the bottom of the page. The source is clear for the first quote (Neurocase is mentioned explicitly) but I guess the others could conceivably be construed as coming from somewhere else, even if the other outside reference is definitely not the source. I guess the solution would be to format those citations properly (whatever that means on Wikipedia) so that they're clearly from Neurocase in every instance.
--Our Bold Hero 03:19, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
I think someone should find that Neurocase article (if you have it, then its even easier), and add the citations by listing them at the bottom of the page and using footnotes to refer to the sources cited in the article. That way, the sources are available for everyone here, rather than making someone search for the source of the quotes. If you don't have the Neurocase article available, I can just post a request for it on the discussion page, or just look it up myself. Thanks!--Ryan! 03:38, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
Thank you. It looks much better now.--Ryan! 03:12, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Minnesota

Hello! I am working on getting Minnesota to Featured article status and need some help. Since you are an "Experenced copy editor" and I write at a 6th grade level :), I could use some help making the prose on the page flow better and sound nicer. Any help would be apprecated, Thanks! -Ravedave 05:06, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Yellowbass.gif)

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Yellowbass.gif. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Retropunk 07:27, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
