[edit] History

Since its creation in 1990, the lineup has evolved but Gnecco has always felt that having a rotating group of musicians who could play off each other was important. In high school, Gnecco was in the band Lost Child and later, The Harmony Bandits (which eventually evolved into what is now OURS). Around 1992-1994, OURS released their first album titled Sour under their own label entitled "Beatnik Records" owned by Mike Marri. Afterwards, the band dissolved and would not reform again for several years.

In 1997, Gnecco started OURS again and quickly drew industry attention. A label bidding war ensued and finally Jimmy was signed with DreamWorks Records. After 4 years, OURS released their second album Distorted Lullabies in 2001. Produced by Steve Lillywhite of U2 fame, the album received mixed reviews but led to successful tours with acts such as Ocean Colour Scene, Pete Yorn, and The Cult.

Precious followed quickly in 2002 and was promoted by DreamWorks. Precious featured a more stripped-down sound and received much more positive reviews and a slot opening for The Wallflowers.

In 2004, Ours relocated from New Jersey to Los Angeles to work with legendary producer Rick Rubin. The resulting album, Dancing for the Death of an Imaginary Enemy, is anticipated to be released in 2007.

Current members of the band Ours, under the monikers Static, Locke, Race, and Pit, along with Jimmy, are kicking off the tour during the first week of February, 2007. As of March 2007, Ours signed with Columbia Records, but it is still unknown to when the release of their latest album will be.

Jimmy Gnecco was a friend of Jeff Buckley and it is said that he worked as Jeff's guitar tech in 1995, though Jimmy does not regard himself as having done so (http://youtube.com/watch?v=ijdfajMDuW0). He later shared his management team.

Jimmy Gnecco recorded a cover of Big Country's "In a Big Country" in a recent ad campaign for Kohl's department stores.
