Edmonton’s Our Mercury is singer/guitarist Ben Stevenson, drummer John Watson, bassist Joseph Lubinski-Mast, and keyboardist Eric Budd.

Members Ben Stevenson and John Watson first played together in a punk band called Misdemeanor when they were just 11 years old. Gaining notoriety from playing shows around town, they attracted enough attention to be offered tours with Guttermouth, Jughead’s Revenge, Straightfaced, Good Riddance, and 88 Fingers Louie. This increased Canadian exposure introduced them to Cecil English (SNFU, d.b.s., the smalls) who produced their first independently released album by the time these boys were just 15.

Changing their name to Our Mercury, they released their next album, Your Medicine (Farway Records), in 2003. For their second full-length, Our Mercury signed to Smallman Records who released From Below in 2005. The addition of Eric Budd, formerly of ska / rocksteady / dub innovators The Operators added a new catchier element to the band that brought renewed energy to the album and live show. Their signature 70’s tinged punk now had elements of Motown and danceable pop.

From Below achieved local commercial radio success through its heavy rotation on Sonic 102.9, and received rave reviews both locally and nationally.
