Talk:OULC
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I'm interested to discover whether anyone else know anything about OULC history, that we can put in this article...Oxymoron 11:36, 13 July 2005 (UTC)
"Both differ notably in their political outlook from former Chair Niklas Albin Svensson (Hot Lips), a Marxist." - inappropriate

- Generally cleaned up, copy edited, removed various apparent statements of opinion. Some citations would be nice! The whole section on "Splits since 1940s" needs some kind of support. Mtpt 20:47, 4 May 2006 (UTC)
I wrote most of the section on the splits in 1940, based on research of the club's archives in the Bodleian Library. I'm going back this summer to produce a fuller account of the club's entire history, which will be added here - citations and all.

- David - have you considered getting some documents scanned and submitting them to Wikimedia? Presumably the Club holds copyright, and could agree to license them. Given the involvement of the likes of Roy Jenkins and Iris Murdoch they would likely be of interest beyond this article. Mtpt 14:22, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

- I've undone the revert by 129.67.98.2, which simply reintroduces all the POV and uncited elements from before. Mtpt 20:38, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

- "yet another" is POV - as are the various "strongs" (strong ties, presence etc.) but those could be supported by citations?. As for noting that Van Nooijen was unsuccessful in each of the listed elections, this needs to be there to avoid confusion. The other candidates referred to were successful.Mtpt 18:39, 13 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Oscar Van Nooijen
I've removed the references to Van Nooijen's unsuccesful candidacies, leaving his position with Oxford East. Leaving aside the question of whether it is POV to call someone who stands for election, and doesn't win, an "unsuccesful" candidate, particularly when the only other individuals listed by name are successful candidates, his various candidacies are listed on the page about him which is the appropriate place for biographical information about an individual. The references to "former" and "recent former" OULC members are questionable, but could be justified on the basis that they demonstrate the numbers of OULC members involved. [edit] Recent Additions to this page
Well done whoever collected the research and references on the pre-war OULC. Will we be treated to any more? (Tdgtdg 20:46, 29 March 2007 (UTC))
