Oulad Bou Sbaa

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Oulad Bou Sbaa (awlād abū sab'a, children of Abu Sab'a, the "Father of the Lion") is a Sahrawi tribe of Berber-Arab origins. They speak Hassaniya Arabic. They claim descent from Abu Sab'a, a 16th century tribal chief who claimed descent from Muhammad. They were nomadic (Bedouin), and herded camels in today's Western Sahara and Mauritania. The Oulad Bou Sbaa is reputed to have been the first tribe to have brought tea to the region; the green Sahrawi tea is now part of the national heritage.
