"Oubliette" is the eighth episode of the third season of The X-Files. When a young girl is kidnapped from her home, a fast food worker miles away collapses on the job, apparently experiencing exactly what the child is feeling. When Mulder learns that the woman was kidnapped and held hostage for years as a child, he begins to believe that she may be the key to help find the missing girl. [edit] Trivia
- The title, "Oubliette" refers to the French term oubliette, derived from the French oublier, "to forget," as it was used to refer to a holding chamber for prisoners whom it was desired to forget. It was/is used to refer to a dungeon which was accessible only from a hatch in a high ceiling. To exit an oubliette was impossible under any circumstances, without outside help.
