The text reads "his last post was as a corporal in the Norwegian home guard." I find that hard to believe and would like som source given to support that. As with other armies if you retire as a General you keep that rank. Corporal is the second lowest rank in the Norwegian Army. If Ruge was so ceverely demoted he would have to have been court martialed or something equally dramatic. I have not seen any mention of this in other sources. More information is needed.
