Oswald Gracias

Oswald Gracias (24 December 1944-) is the current Roman Catholic Archbishop of Bombay since 14 October 2006.
Archbishop Gracias was ordained on 20 December 1970. Pope John Paul II chose Gracias to become an Auxiliary Bishop of Bombay, appointing him on 28 June 1997 with the titular see of Bladia.
He remained as an Auxiliary Bishop of Bombay until 7 September 2000 when he was appointed as Archbishop of Agra. He remained in this postion until he appointment to the Archdiocese of Bombay by Pope Benedict XVI on 14 October 2006. His replacement as Archbishop of Agra is Archbishop Albert D'Souza, 61, whose elder brother is Bishop Alphonsus D'Souza of the Diocese of Raiganj in India's West Bengal province.
He is expected to be created a Cardinal in the next consistory, expected summer 2007.
