Osumi (satellite)

Ōsumi is the name of the first Japanese satellite, named after the Osumi Province. It was launched on February 12, 1970 with a Lambda-4 rocket. The Ōsumi satellite weighed 12 kilograms. It circled the earth on an orbit with a perigee of 323 km and an apogee of 2440 km with an inclination of 31 degrees and decayed January 8, 2003.
