Ostseehalle

The Ostseehalle in Kiel, the regional capital of Schleswig-Holstein, is one of the biggest indoor arenas in Germany.

Short history

  • 21st of September 1950 – the city council passes a resolution to build a sports and exhibition hall in the centre of Kiel
  • 17th of June 1951 – the Ostseehalle is officially opened
  • 01st March 1952 – Building is completed
  • Originally the Ostseehalle was a hangar on the island of Sylt. In the due course of time, the arena has constantly been renovated and extended.
