Talk:OSI protocols

How does this article fit with OSI_model?
I was under the understanding that the OSI model was a framework under which protocols fit rather than being a set of protocols itself?
- OSI is actually a set of protocols. The OSI model was developed, during the development of the OSI protocol set, in order to help organise the OSI protocol stack. OSI predate the widespread adoption of the Internet, and on the whole are a failure, although some of them are still used for some purposes.
- Ah, thanks for clearing that up.
The layers in this aren't the same as the layers in the OSI model - the OSI model has separate physical link and data link layers, and doesn't have a routing protocol layer. Guy Harris 07:25, 24 December 2005 (UTC)
I propose we develop a template that shows the OSI layer in widely used standards and protocols, similar to the existing Template:IPStack template..
