Osaka University of Foreign Studies (大阪外国語大学 Ōsaka gaikokugo daigaku?), abbreviated to Ōsaka gaidai (大阪外大?), Hangaidai (阪外大?) or Daigaidai (大外大?) is a public coeducational research university in Minoh, Osaka, Japan. It is dedicated to the study of foreign languages and their related cultures.

Merge with Osaka University is under discussion now, and it may be reformed as foreign language department of Osaka University after October, 2007.

The University was first established in December 1921 as Osaka School of Foreign Languages at Uehonmachi, Osaka City, by using donation by Choko Hayashi. It offerd 9 languages such as Chinese as major.

1944, it was reformed to Osaka School of Foreign Affairs under the Second World War, and it moved to Takatsuki for a few years after the war, and went back to original place in Osaka city.

1949, under law of public university, it was reformed to Osaka University of Foreign Studies, and offered 12 modern languages as majors.

1979 it moved again to a present location in outer Minoh City for more extensive academic activities. It offers 25 modern languages as majors and 16 ancient and modern languages as minors.
