Osaka Monorail

Osaka-Monorail (大阪モノレール Ōsaka Monorēru?) is a monorail system in northern Osaka Prefecture, Japan, noted in the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest monorail in the world. It is operated by Osaka Monorail Co., Ltd. (大阪高速鉄道株式会社 Ōsaka Kōsoku Tetsudō Kabushiki-gaisha?) and opened in 1990.

Osaka Monorail runs on an elevated line between Osaka International Airport and Kadoma, Osaka through the suburbs of Toyonaka, Suita, Ibaraki and Kadoma. Its current total length is 28.0 kilometers, with the Main Line spanning 21.2 km, and the Saito Line branch between Bampaku-kinen-koen Station on the Main Line and Saito-nishi Station spanning 6.8 km.
The latest 4.2 km extension of the Saito Line between Handai-byoin-mae Station and Saito-nishi Station was completed on March 19, 2007. The new Saito-nishi terminal is located in a residential area named Saito, about a kilometer from the Osaka University of Foreign Studies.
A trip over the entire Main Line takes about 36 minutes, and costs ¥540.
