France

Ors is a commune of the Nord département, in northern France. It is located on the Sambre-Oise Canal, on the confines of a small wood called Bois l'Évêque.

It was a theatre of intense fighting for the control of the canal in November 1918. Wilfred Owen was killed there, a week before the Armistice and is buried at the Communal Cemetery.

It is famous for its yearly sea jousting competition on the canal every August 15. Sea jousting has been played there since the Middle Ages.

[edit] Monuments

The church, Église de l'Assomption, was built from 1851 à 1872.
