Orland Park Place

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Orland Park Place is a shopping plaza located in Orland Park, IL along LaGrange Road. It opened in 1981 as an enclosed mall to rival the neighboring Orland Square Mall. The anchors were Montgomery Ward, Kohl's, Wieboldt's, Sportmart, and Spiegel. Wieboldt's closed in 1987 while the chain closed. Toward the late 1990s, the mall was mostly vacant. In 1999, Chicago-based HSA bought the failed mall and redeveloped it into a strip mall. After Montgomery Ward closed with the rest of the chain, the store was remodeled into a Galyan's (now Dick's). Spiegel closed and Sportmart (now The Sports Authority) now features a remodeled store on the upper level. The former Wieboldt's is now a Bed Bath & Beyond, Stein Mart, and Binny's Beverage Depot. There is also a Barnes & Noble an Office Depot, a Wickes Furniture, an Old Navy, a TigerDirect retail store, and a DSW. In 2005, Oak Brook, IL based company Inland Real Estate acquired the property.
