Orkland

Orkland is a former municipality in Sør-Trøndelag county, Norway.
It was originally a part of Orkdal formannskapsdistrikt, but became separated from Orkdal on July 1, 1920 together with Orkanger. The new Orkland municipality had a population of 1.760.
On January 1, 1963 the municipalities Orkland, Orkanger, Orkdal and Geitastrand were merged to form the new municipality Orkdal. Prior to the merger Orkland had a population of 1.707.
