Origin is Borknagar's seventh studio album, and is primarily an acoustic effort. Origin explores the band's more progressive elements.
Following his brief departure from the band during the recording sessions of Epic, this album would mark Tyr's return to Borknagar.
"Oceans Rise" was originally a song on their album The Archaic Course. The track of the same name on Origin features the same lyrics but with different music and sung entirely in clean vocals, along with the rest of the album.
