Oregon School for the Blind
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Oregon School for the Deaf (OSD), is a public school in Salem, Oregon, serving blind and vision impaired students of kindergarten through high school grades through residential, day school, and part-time enrollment programs. It is operated by the Oregon Department of Education. Established in 1873 by the Oregon Legislative Assembly as the Institute for the Blind to provide free public education to blind children, its first classes were held in a private home.
In 2005, by order of the state legislature, a study was begun on the potential benefit of moving the school to the Oregon School for the Deaf campus.[1]
