Order of the Neo Solar Temple

The Order of the Neo Solar Temple is the active arm of a spiritual empowerment movement associated with the North American professional wrestling subculture. The Temple, as it is often simply referred to, was founded in 2006 in and around Philadelphia, Pennsylvania within the CHIKARA Pro wrestling promotion by their self-described "Cosmic Chancellor" UltraMantis Black₁. The Temple claims several members although the core hierarchy consists primarily of Mantis and the prophets Hydra and Crossbones.

The roots of the Order extend back to mid 2004 when founder Ultramantis Black, up until this time a fan favorite or "technico" in the world of organized lucha libre, severed all ties with long time partner and perennial crowd-pleaser, Mister ZERO. Mantis immediately ceased the use of silly voices and dance and immersed himself in a strange world of Bauhaus inspired art and black magic. Gone were the "good" UltraMantis' patented Dusty Rhodes impressions and incessant babble about the Colecovision expansion pack and his vast collection of Garbage Pail Kid error cards. This was replaced by long winded sermons peppered with frightening alliterative language and dark, apocalyptic imagery. Mantis immediately aligned himself with fellow "rudo" Hallowicked who had recently joined the singles scene after a storied run with partner Blind Rage as The Night Shift. As The Dark Breed, UltraMantis and Hallowicked stormed the tag team ranks of CHIKARA Pro. However, after failing to capture tag gold anywhere in North America, the team seemed to stall. Tension between the two was further exacerbated after a series of injuries forced Mantis to watch from the sidelines as his partner competed in CHIKARA's Tag World Grand Prix 2005 (reuniting with Blind Rage) and again in 2006, this time with Delirious.
