Order of Charles XIII

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Order of Charles XIII is a Swedish order of knighthood, founded by King Charles XIII in 1811. The head is the King of Sweden. The members are three princes of the blood royal, three ecclesiastical dignitaries, and twenty-seven members of the eleventh (honorary and highest) degree of the Swedish Rite of Freemasonry. It functions much like a Supreme Council of the Scottish Rite. Swedish orders of knighthood are known unofficially by the colors of their cordons, and the Order of Charles XIII is "the red ribbon".
