Ord, Highland

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In Scotland, an ord is a deep and narrow river valley opening out into the sea. It is notable as being highly dangerous to road traffic as an ord tends to require a road with sharp bends and steep inclines along clifftops and cliffsides.

Notable ords are the Ord of Caithness, Berriedale Braes and the Ord of Dunbeath. All are found on the A9 road in Highland Scotland.
