Orbit@home

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

orbit@home is a BOINC-based distributed computing project which uses the Orbit Reconstruction, Simulation and Analysis framework to monitor the impact hazard posed by Near-Earth objects. More information can be found at the ORSA@work website and in a presentation poster titled Distributed Computing and Near Earth Objects Hazard Monitoring, published by Pasquale Tricarico of Washington State University on November 14, 2004.

As at December 2006, only 22 participants have any credit for completed work units and hundreds of participants who joined in June 2005 have no credit for units at all. The account creation page also states, "We plan to enable again account creation during the beta testing, probably in early 2006." Orbit@home is not listed as an available choice on the projects page of BOINC.
