[edit] Origin

The station launched under the name Orange Lounge Radio on May 30th, 2002. The first live program, Orange Lounge Radio Live, was broadcast on June 23rd, 2002. The initial hosts were Rob Roberts (also known as "skie", who had previously been a co-host on Under Sedation Live) and Jamie Summers (also known as "DarkSakura"). Once in a while, guests (mainly members of DDR Freak and the Sacramento Bemani community) made appearances to help host the show. One of them was Matt Whiteman (also known as "LOKI"), now a regular host on their live program every Sunday night. The station is hosted on Live365 with a connection limit of about 100 users at a time.

They are probably most notable for their podcast offspring, Orange Lounge Radio: To Go which won them the Best Gaming Podcast Award at the first annual Podcast Awards in 2005. This has gotten them a lot of media attention, including an interview with a news station in Sacramento and a front-page article in the Sacramento Bee.

The station evolved on January 1, 2006 when the OLR crew announced that Orange Lounge Radio Live and their podcast would merge on January 15, 2006 into a two-hour show that would also be podcasted twice a week. The other hour would become a new show known as Orange Lounge Radio: Afterbirth.
