Oracle of Time
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Oracle of Time, earlier referred to as the "Oracle of Infinity," is a fictional character from the Dune universe novels written by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. The Oracle of Time is the guiding force and "patron saint" of the Spacing Guild, and she appears in Dune: House Corrino and Hunters of Dune.
The Oracle of Time is able to communicate with the Navigators as well as Duncan Idaho, although there seems to be a limit to how far her communications and her prescience can reach.
Like Daniel and Marty, the Oracle of Time has paranormal powers; in one example she transported the no-ship Ithaca from an alternate universe back to that of the Old Empire, and told Duncan that he has a role to play in Kralizec, the so-called Final Battle. In another example, she called all Navigators to a certain coordinate, and when they arrived in their Guild ships she folded the fabric of space all around them and transported them to the strange universe. There she found the Ithaca, and told the Navigators that Kralizec was upon them, and they must find the Ithaca because the ultimate Kwisatz Haderach was on board, and both sides in the great war wanted him for their victory.[1]
At the end of Hunters, it was revealed that the Oracle was actually the still-existing consciousness of Norma Cenva, the inventor of foldspace travel and the first Navigator.
