Operation Phoenix is the fourth full-length album from Californian hardcore punk band, Good Riddance. It was released on May 4, 1999 on Fat Wreck Chords and marked a complete change in recording location and production team from the previous three albums. Legendary hardcore drummer, Bill Stevenson, of Descendents and Black Flag fame, took the reins along with Stephen Egerton and Jason Livermore – the latter would be a long-time partner in many hardcore punk soundboard projects.
They also switched from San Francisco to Fort Collins, Colorado. None of this was to the detriment of the band's sound or attitude, however. The band even acknowledged Bill Stevenson's influence by planting a hidden track at the end of the recording – a custom since their second album – Black Flag's "My War". This was the first of many occasions the band, and especially Russ Rankin, would associate with Bill Stevenson – a side-project was spawned called Only Crime, also on Fat Wreck Chords. [1] The song "30 Day Wonder" was featured in the skateboarding video game Tony Hawk's American Wasteland.
