Mujahedin started their operation after the Iranian government accepted the UN resolution 598 which demanded cease fire in the already 8 years long Iran-Iraq war. They were quite successful as long as they had the Iraqi close air support. Under heavy international pressure for putting an end to the war, Saddam Hussein drew back his fighter aircrafts and the sky opened for the Iranian airborne forces to be deployed behind Mojahedin lines and ending the operation in a disaster for Mojahedin. Their causualities are estimated between 2000-10000. The whole length of the operation was about 10 days or so.
