Operation Duryodhan
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Operation Duryodhan (2005) was the code name of a sting operation, which captured on camera eleven members of Parliament of India accepting money to table questions on the floor of the Parliament. Such an incident was proved first time in the history of Republic of India, and probably first time in the world in any nation having a parliamentary form of democracy. All the involved members were expelled from the parliament. Ten of them belonged to Lok sabha while one was from Rajya Sabha. The eleven members involved in the matter belonged to a number of important political parties, including the Opposition party BJP and the principal ruling party of the coalition, the Indian National Congress, though a majority were from the former.
