Open mobile terminal platform

The Open Mobile Terminal Platform (or OMTP) is a set of evolving recommendations created by the operator-sponsored OMTP group for providing a common application framework for mobile phones. The specification is 'air interface' and 'handset operating system' agnostic. OMTP is willing to work with or include standards recommendations from other organizations; for example the device management standard from the Open Mobile Alliance. The group has submitted recommendations to the Java community and to the Linux developers.
The OMTP group is made up by mobile telephony network operators and others who want to create portable (open i.e. not tied in to a single manufacturer) communications equipment, primarily cellular handsets, and is represented through the OMTP Limited consortium.
Full members include Cingular Wireless, Hutchison 3G, Orange, SK Telecom, Telecom Italia, Telefónica, Telenor, T-Mobile and Vodafone.
Sponsor members include AOL, Ericsson, Freescale, Motorola, Nokia, and Samsung.
Advisor members include ACCESS, Analog Devices, Aplix, ARM, BenQ Mobile, Certicom, Discretix, Esmertec, Gemalto, Infineon, Intel, KPN, LG, NXP, Openwave, Qualcomm, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, Sprint Nextel, STMicroelectronics, Sun, SurfKitchen, Symbian, TeliaSonera, Texas Instruments, Toshiba, Trango Systems, and VirtualLogix.
