Open Window Software

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Open Widow Software is a US software company specializing in educational software. Founded by Dick Bryant in 1992, it is based in Silverthorne, Colorado.

The company initially focused on Windows utilities and freeware. Among its early titles were BailOut (a single-click exit from Windows), WinLotto (a lotto number picker), WinKillr (a utility to shut down specific programs and save any open documents at a pre-set time) and WinJottr (an always-on note taking utility). In the mid-90's the company began to focus entirely on its educational software product line - at the time WinFlash32 and WinFlash Educator.

Open Window's current product line includes WinFlash Basic, WinFlash Scholar and WinFlash Eductor - the three levels of the combination authoring, study and evaluation tools. In addition the company publishes WinFlash Administrator, an automated gradebook and test scoring application and WinFlash Publisher, a customized version of Educator allowing distribution of proprietary content accompanied by its own version of WinFlash Basic.

Open Window's products have been reviewed by PCMagazine, WUGNet, ZDNet and WorldNetDaily. The company has twice won both the Shareware Industry Award for Best Educational Software and the Educational Shareware Cooperative's People's Choice Award.
