OPAL pipeline

The OPAL (Ostsee Pipeline Anschluss-Leitung) is a planned 480 km long pipeline, which will connect the planned Nord Stream pipeline with the JAGAL (distributes gas from the Yamal-Europe pipeline), and the STEGAL (distributes gas from the Central-European Russian gas transit system (Transgas) via Czech and Slovak republics) pipelines. It will run from Greifswald to Olbernhau near German-Czech border. The pipeline will be under the responsibility and ownership of E.ON Ruhrgas and Wingas, a joint venture of Wintershall and Gazprom. The diameter of pipeline will be 1400 mm.
