[edit] Billingsley High School

I've added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Billingsley High School, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Importance). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree, discuss the issues raised at Talk:Billingsley High School. If you remove the {{dated prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Amalas =^_^= 19:21, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Liberty

You are mistaken, I did not "spam". The site added is valuable and should definitely be included (a major European ressource for liberalism and individual liberty). Please revert the links. Thank you! Centinel2 17:27, 12 June 2006 (UTC)

ok, thanks! Centinel2 17:36, 12 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Recommendations

Please read the information given in your welcome message to familiarize yourself with Wikipedia conventions and guidelines. Users (editors) do not sign their contributions to articles. Please sign the talk pages only. Also, it is very helpful to provide an edit summary in the box below the edit window. To neglect summaries is a warning sign, because vandals rarely provide summaries. The link how to edit a page will give you tips on how to format your entries properly. Good luck. --Blainster 01:10, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Please don't add copyrighted text to Wikipedia

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We appreciate your creation of the article, Kohala High School, but we cannot accept copyrighted text borrowed from other web sites or printed material. Please see Wikipedia:Copyright problems for more information on this topic, or generally, Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines. Please do not remove the copyright violation notice placed in the article or repost the suspected infringing text. However, if you would like to rewrite the article in your own words, follow the link in the posted notice to create a temporary subpage. If your new article is appropriate, and not a further copyright violation, the reviewing administrator will move that new article into place once the copyright status of the original has been resolved. [edit] Again, please don't add copyrighted text to WIkipedia

As Cholmes75 said in the previous message, please don't add copyrighted text to Wikipedia. The article Capital Region Pontiacs is a direct copy from the following URL: [1]. Copies from websites are almost never acceptable for Wikipedia UNLESS the author has placed the text in the legal public domain or has licensed it under the GNU Free Documentation License. Consider yourself warned: In the past, users who have persistently posted copyvios despite warnings have been blocked from editing Wikipedia. I'm not saying this'll happen anytime soon, but it could if you keep it up. Thank you. szyslak (t, c, e) 09:36, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] WP:WHMT

Hello. You may or may not remember this, but some time ago you signed up for a Hangman Tournament hosted here on Wikipedia. The next tournament is about to start, and I was just wondering if you were still interested in participating. If you are, please go to the page (linked above) and bold your name in the sign-up list. This will confirm your registration. If you are not interested any more, please feel free to remove your name from the list. If you haven't responded within 7 days, I will assume you are not interested, and remove you from the list.

If you think anyone else may be interested in this tournament, please drop them a note and ask them to sign up. Good luck, and I hope to see you at the tournament! If you have any questions, please contact me at my talk page. Ian Manka Talk to me! 13:35, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] WP:WHMT

Hello, Oo7565. You may or may not remember signing up for the Wikipedia Hangman Tournament, but the time has finally arrived for you to start your game! You have until 10:52, 5 April 2007 (UTC) to begin your game by typing {{Wikipedia:WikiHangman Tournament/New|~~~~}} on the corresponding round page. You should also visit your match page, as you will be able to see various aspects of your match.

I would also suggest:

  • Familiarizing yourself with the rules of the tournament. The rules include how to win, how to play, and how to navigate amongst the various pages of the tournament.
  • Visiting the Tournament 2 page, which has the rules and pairing for the tournament. Use the tournament tree to see tournament updates, as well as
  • Placing Wikipedia:WikiHangman Tournament/Tournament 2/Match 7/Round 1/A, Wikipedia:WikiHangman Tournament/Tournament 2/Match 7/Round 1/B, and Wikipedia:WikiHangman Tournament/Tournament 2/Match 7 on your Special:Watchlist, as each of these will be updated with or without notice. As the match progresses, add subsequent pages to your watchlist.

If you have any questions at all regarding the procedures and rules of this tournament, please feel free to contact me at my talk page. Thanks again, and good luck!

In case you are wondering why it took so long to begin this tournament, my computer was not operating correctly, and my Internet usage was limited to public computers. My opportunities to use public computers were limited, so needless to say, I didn't have a lot of time to commit to Wikipedia. So, sorry if this has caused you any inconvience. Good luck! If you have any questions, please contact me at my talk page. Ian Manka 02:24, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Spelling and grammar

Please do be careful when correcting spelling and grammar in articles. Some of your corrections (such as to Baka (Cameroon and Gabon)) are simply changes from British style to American style, which is against Wikipedia policy. The Manual of Style states that:

In June 2005, the Arbitration Committee ruled that, when either of two styles is acceptable, it is inappropriate for a Wikipedia editor to change from one style to another unless there is some substantial reason for the change. For example, with respect to British spelling as opposed to American spelling, it would only be acceptable to change from American spelling to British spelling if the article concerned a British topic. Revert warring over optional styles is unacceptable; if the article uses colour rather than color, it would be wrong to switch simply to change styles, although editors should ensure that articles are internally consistent. If in doubt, defer to the style used by the first major contributor. See Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Jguk

Also, in one of the articles you changed, Badi III, you corrected the spelling and grammar of a direct quotation from a period source. These should, of course, be left alone to reflect as well as possible the style used in the original. Thanks, — BrianSmithson 22:45, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Copyrights

Hi, I'm glad you've continued to contribute to Wikipedia since I tagged the article for copyvio. Could you clarify your question for me? Are you asking if it's OK to take text from elsewhere, change some words around and post it to Wikipedia? Or are you asking if the simple act of citing a source ever violates copyright?

If you're asking the former question, my simple answer would be that all Wikipedia contributions should be your own writing, not just "in your own words". If you just change some words and sentences around, there will always be traces of the original work, making it a "derivative work", which is prohibited by copyright laws.

If you're asking whether you can violate copyright laws and our policy just by citing a source, the answer is, absolutely not. Citing sources is the core of following our verifiability policy, one of the core principles of Wikipedia.

I hope this has answered your question. :-) szyslak (t, c, e) 07:22, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Spelling (again)

As already mentioned, please don't change spellings to Americanised ones unless (a) the article has always used Americanised spellings, or (b) the article deals with a region where Americanised spellings are the norm. Thanks. Angus McLellan (Talk) 18:25, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

Not a problem. It's not always easy to tell which system was intended. Thanks! Angus McLellan (Talk) 18:29, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] KIA Expansion

hi, can u help to expand kuching international airport page. thanks mike86 12:19, 22 December 2006

THis is silly. WIkipedia is a project. It is not a site to list all of the villages in spain. Hopefully these "lists" can be expanded into fuller articles. Deletion proposal is a ridiculous idea -delete this and you will have to delete tens of thousands of stubs which people have started many of which have developed into nice articles on world villages on the entire wikipedia. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 22:16, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

The aim is to start the articles and expand them into full articles. Each village probaly has its own website in spanish which I can use my spanish knowledge to translate into full articles. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 22:17, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

spanish wikipedia has all of these articles linked . Ernst Stavro Blofeld 22:17, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

Give them time and I promise you each will have more info. Anyway the geo data is substantial enough for encylcopedic anyway. Its not as if it just says blah blah is a villages in SpainErnst Stavro Blofeld 22:19, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

Trust me mate I started some vilages only a few months back and many now are not only short articles but actually have details on all the different aspects of the History, Local Economy, tranport commuinications, local customs, everything. I see you have left a clean up tag. Wrong tag it doesn't need cleaning up you just need to add a {{expand ]] tag requesting the page for expansion. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 22:25, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

See the page now this will encourage people to expand it. I certainly don't criticise your concerns to make stubs better. If you are concerned about stubs feel free to add the expand tag. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 22:28, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

Don't worry mate. Every village in Spain should have a site like

http://www.pueblos-espana.org/castilla+y+leon/salamanca/aldeatejada/

There is a wealth of info for me to translate when i have time Ernst Stavro Blofeld 22:31, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

I have added a few minor details. I haven't got time now to write a full article but it will be done soon enough Ernst Stavro Blofeld 22:40, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

I have added population growth recent years Ernst Stavro Blofeld 22:49, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

There we go added economy details I translated to Aldeatejada. See what can be done in 15 minutes. Eventually this will expanded 2 fold and hopefully free images added into a detailed article. I hoope to do the same for villages elesewhere. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 22:58, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

Howz that for starters. I'm glad you reminded me though they need expansion Ernst Stavro Blofeld 23:13, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

Thanks mate but I beleive that soon enough each of the articles could be twice as long as the Aldeajada one. I would hope someone who knows the history of the area could write a lengthy paragraph. Eventually I will get around the concentrating on removing stubs from wikipedia but so much new work is missing!!! See Wikipedia:WikiProject Films/List of films without article I am compiling an entire list of missing notable films from wikipedia there are tens of thousands!! by year 1888 -2009 and country Albania - Yugoslavia. ALso I have started every village in Slovakia and many have now been written into articles like this one by several Slovak wikipedians. HAPPY CHRISTMAS!! Ernst Stavro Blofeld 18:14, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

I have just noticed that your tagging for deletion has resulted in the rapid improvement of a number of articles!! It is a very good tactic for people to improve their articles but a little crude!! Please note though that any settlement on the planet should have enough information for an article however small. Each place has an uncovered history and story of its own that is just waiting to be provided on wikipedia. So in the future you can use the expand tag rather than delete if you see any poorly developed villages. All the best Ernst Stavro Blofeld 18:22, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Bhagabhadra

Hi, I've added more info to the Bhagabhadra article. Regards. PHG 17:55, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for bringing the Douglas Head Lighthouse, Isle of Man. I have imrpoved it took only about 10-15 minutes. You must think I only create stubs!! Beleive me I am very capable see Tashilhunpo, Shalu Monastery and William Garwood. I am also in the middle of writing Seven Years in Tibet into a featured article. 95% of it is mine. One thing you must remeber though. I never create a stub if it cannot be expanded into a full article. Just remember that. You said about deletion. You need to understand the potential of stubs. Hope you ar ehaving a great Christmas Ernst Stavro Blofeld 12:47, 26 December 2006 (UTC).

I do actually prefer writing article rater than creating stubs but so many articles are missing I feel it best to stub them all first and then research each one afterwards. Luckily I have a knowledge of about 9 languages although I only know a few fluently which helps a lot. I am currently compiling the Wikipedia:WikiProject Films/List of films without article. There a thousands and thousands of missing films and tens of thousands of missing notable actors, directors and cinema characters. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 12:54, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

What do you think of Douglas Head Lighthouse, Isle of Man now? See also List of Hungarian sculptors all the articles were created by me and they are not stubs!!! Hope you had a good Christmas and keep up the search for expanded articlesErnst Stavro Blofeld 11:51, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Prodding articles

Rather than prodding so many valid articles it would be better to continue with the expand tags that you have been putting on other articles. It looks as if you are using the prod template to draw attention to the article but the expand is better. Cheers. Thanks. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 12:51, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Gris-Gris deletion

I'd like you to reconsider Gris-Gris' deletion. It's been widely proclaimed as one of the best albums of the 60s, if not of all time, and I believe that it played a significant role in the rise of Southern rock during the 70s. Please reconsider. Eyeball kid 22:07, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Expand tag on Best response

You've added "expand" templates to a whole bunch of articles recently, perhapsyou could explain why/what you think needs expanding. I'm specifically interested in Best response. Also, you've proposed a bunch of articles for deletion, aways spelling "deletion" incorrectly, I thought you might want to change that in future. Best regards, Pete.Hurd 02:01, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Proposed deletion of Ben Shibe

I have removed the {{prod}} tag from Ben Shibe, which you proposed for deletion, because I feel that this article should not be deleted from Wikipedia. I'm leaving this message here to notify you about it. If you still feel the article should be deleted, please don't add the {{prod}} template back to the article. Instead, feel free to list it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thanks! -- Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 12:49, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Prod vs AfD

There is no requirement to {prod} an article prior to taking it to AfD. In fact, if it is likely to be contentious, which I am guessing this one will be, it is better to take it to AfD, since the prod will simply be removed. Jefferson Anderson 18:26, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

Ah, well, my point of view is that this sort of article is highly likely to be recreated after it is deleted. If it is deleted via prod, then it has to be AfDed to be deleted again. If it is deleted via AfD, then if it is recreated, it can be speedily deleted. I prefer to get the opinion of the community recorded when I am sure the article should be deleted. When I'm not completely sure, I tend to tag or use prod. Jefferson Anderson 18:36, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

What do you feel needs cleaned up about the article? Kat, Queen of Typos 22:14, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Bill Dawley

The removal of AfD notices (NOT prods, but AfD headers) is considered vandalism, and you can certainly revert it and warn (politely) the user who removed the notice. [edit] Proposed deletion of Cesar Rene Arce

Hello! Just wanted to let you know I have removed your Proposed Deletion notice from the Cesar Rene Arce article because I believe the subject barely meets the notability requirements of WP:BIO. Specifically, "The person has been the primary subject of multiple non-trivial published works whose source is independent of the person." I agree it is a close call, and if you still disagree with me you should consider submitting it as an AFD nomination so that we can get the community's opinion. [edit] Colliers Wood United F.C.

I have removed the {{prod}} tag from Colliers Wood United F.C., which you proposed for deletion, because I feel that this article should not be deleted from Wikipedia. Clubs at level 10 and above of the English League system have been accepted as notable according to WP:CORP policy, and Colliers Wood United play at level 9. If you still feel the article should be deleted, please don't add the {{prod}} template back to the article. Instead, feel free to list it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. - fchd 21:16, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Aiden J. David

I have removed the prod tag from the above article. I don't feel strongly either way about whether he merits an article or not, but I DO feel strongly that the prod tag is inherently wrong, and articles should always be discussed at AFD. all the best Jcuk 22:08, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Live Album (album)

I would highly suggest you read the criteria for AfD Wikipedia:Deletion policy and WP:MUSIC - Grand Funk Railroad is CLEARLY a notable band; this album is part of their official discography (in fact their first live album) which is notable in itself, so you've got to say why this is not a notable album according to the aforementioned. Looking at the above, you might want to spend some time looking over the deletion policies. And, from your grammar, it appears that English may not be your first language, if that's so, let me know what language you're more familiar with, and I'll see if there's parallel information in the languages with which I'm familiar. SkierRMH 06:59, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Prod of Y Garn (Rhinogydd)

If you want to {{prod}} an article, it's generally polite to discuss the reasons on its talk page rather than on an arbitrary user's talk page. Incidentally, for the reasons given by Stemonitis, I believe the hill is notable. — ras52 07:14, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

Actually, since Stemonitis was the editor who created the article, the message that Oo7565 left there seems okay to me. And Stemonitis did politely reply about removing the PROD template, so the system worked just as it is supposed to. -- Satori Son 14:13, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
That's not the point. Several people have edited the page, and it's reasonable to assume that others who haven't edited it may have an interest in it too. Hiding the rationale behind the delete {{prod}} on an individual's talk page without also putting at least a cursory mention on the article's talk page just seems wrong. The fact that Stemonitis saw it and removed the {{prod}} is not particularly relevant. — ras52 18:24, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
That is exactly the point. There is no such thing as an "owner" of an article, as ras52's edit summary states; that's why we have watchlists.
Allow me to make my point perfectly clear: Oo7565, you did nothing wrong whatsoever. The deletion process was followed to the letter. In fact, the majority of editors who make PROD nominations do not even notify the creator of the article (as you did), much less anyone else. No one was "hiding" anything, and to say otherwise is a misstatement of policy and a failure to assume good faith. I am very sorry that someone said that about you.
Finally, the characterization of the article creator as "an arbitrary user" is factually inaccurate and terribly misleading. In fact, it is the implication that "others who haven't edited it" should somehow be notified that is arbitrary – and completely impractical – to say the least. (Sorry so late to post this, but I absolutely could not let this go unrefuted on your talk page once I saw it.) -- Satori Son 04:38, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Sickles High School (AfD)

You are correct. It has been decided (much to the dismay of people like me) that high schools are notable enough to merit having an article. However, the reason I reverted your change is because that you are NOT supposed to remove AfD tags from articles, unless there has been a significant change made to improve the article. And this has not yet been done. I can tell you one thing that would help... Name the city in which this High School is located. That would go a long way in increasing this article's verifiability, and would help to make sure that somebody isn't just making up this school. -- Big Brother 1984 18:47, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Note on PRODing

I just noticed that you had PRODed Dynamite kablammo, which is very much appreciated. However, you need not prod articles which fall under the Criteria for Speedy Deletion. In particular, this article would fall under CSD A7 ({{db-band}} or {{csd-a7}}). Any articles flagged in such a fashion would automatically be placed in CAT:CSD for speedy deletion. Happy editing! thadius856talk|airports|neutrality 17:29, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Six Fat Dutchmen

You PRODed Six Fat Dutchmen for deletion, and given the little content on the page when you did that, I don't blame you for doing so. Knowing nothing about Polka music at all, I still decided to see what I could find about this very old band (formed in the 1930s) on the web, and came up with a few bits of information that I added to the article, and discuss further on the article's talk page. I don't know if it's enough new content to keep the article around, but I thought I'd make some attempt at expansion. The original author is apparently inactive, so I doubt we'll hear anything back from him or her. If the article is kept, I found an old album cover image that I could upload under fair-use. - Itsfullofstars 07:03, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Jimmy Heath

Thanks for the note about the proposed deletion of Jimmy Heath, which got me to look at the criteria for notability for musicians. They seem reasonable, and i can think of some other musicians I've posted about whose articles can be deleted, too. So I'll see to it. John FitzGerald 20:15, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

I have removed the prod from this article. Subject seems notable enough for work with Miles Davis et al. If you are in disagreement with this supposition, please take the article to AfD. Bubba hotep 08:56, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Deep Dark Chambers

Have you actually read the Shining page? They have already released four full-length albums, with a fifth on its way, toured Europe and so easily meets the notability criteria for bands; and thus also for their debut album. Hence I removed the prod. Spearhead 10:50, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] ProD in general

Hello. I am here to say something which really has been said by many over time, judging by the comments above. I really must urge you to read the policy on notability before carrying on any further with your ProD duties. Tagging articles such as these: [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] and [8] with the resulting AfD discussion (here) – these are all bound to result in controversy. ProD is really for non-controversial deletion nominations, so far nearly all have been contested and the ProD removed. This surely must tell you something about your judgement in certain cases. I will also add that some of your ProDs were quite correct. However, you are making a lot of people agitated and your continuance to do so coupled with your extremely vague (and invariably misspelt) reasoning is only harming the project, not, as you perceive, helping it. Please bear this all in mind, read WP:N and WP:PROD, and also bear in mind that as long as you don't make better judgement calls, the more this talk page will grow with disgruntled Wikipedians. I'm sorry I had to talk to you on this subject, but I felt something had to be said. Bubba hotep 11:16, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Salem High School (Salem, Virginia)

The majority of high schools in Virginia now have an entry. There's no reason why this high school should be singled out for deletion.VaGuy1973 13:47, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] DRV

The article Hillcrest Christian School, on which you commented is up for DRV here. You may wish to take part in the debate. Bridgeplayer 17:04, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Derrick Rostagno

I have removed the prod notice you placed on the Derrick Rostagno page and explained my reasoning on the article's talk page. Rostagno is a tennis player who was ranked as high as No. 13 in the world and reached a Grand Slam quarter-final. This information is stated in the article and, in my opinion, makes a tennis player significant enough for inclusion in a large encyclopedia like Wikipedia. He also meets the current criteria for inclusion on the page List of male tennis players (where he is indeed listed - and pretty much every player listed there also has their own article). So I believe the player is clearly notable enough for his own a Wikipedia page. Zaxem 23:36, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Benedictional of St. Æthelwold

Hi. I noticed that you marked this article for clean-up. As the primary author of the article, I am very conerned. What is it about this article makes you think that it needs clean-up. I realize that it is about a somewhat obscure subject (although all art historians familiar with the period are fmailiar with this work), and would be dry read to he uninterested. However, for those who are interested in such things, it seems to me to be apretty decent article, although it does not cover the subject in the depth that it deserves. I admit that I may be too close to the trees to see the forest however. Dsmdgold 04:47, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

maybe adding and little more history/background would be goodOo7565 05:03, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] AfD nomination of Columbia High School (Florida)

An editor has nominated Columbia High School (Florida), an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not"). Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Columbia High School (Florida) and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. [edit] Best response

Hi, I've been scratching my head trying to figure out how best to expand the Coordination games section of Best response without putting a bunch of material from Coordination game into the article and disturbing the flow of logic in Best response. I was wondering if you could take another look at Best response and tell me if you still think it needs to have that section expanding. You'll notice I took out your expand template, please feel free to put it back in if you still think it needs expanding. Cheers, Pete.Hurd 03:52, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

Thanks! Pete.Hurd 21:00, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Bella Goth

Yea, I was planning on doing a better write-up of the article this weekend. (if you think I'm just joshing you, see msg 9 of this discussion http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/thesims2/show_msgs.php?topic_id=m-1-34401595&pid=914811 )

Anyway, I got mad homework I also gotta do this weekend. ~5 major assignments, then study for a test.

If I add stuff to the article by pieces at a time, would anyone mind? I try to do it all in one go, but that takes a while and I don't have that time to do this. JimmmyThePiep 22:53, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] remove

Being in a conflict of interest, the best thing I should do is to change it with an AfD template. Since I don't have enough time, would you please complete the request for me? Thanks. --Deryck C. 12:16, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks for the comment

Thanks. I am now going to AfD.  ~Steptrip 12:56, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] re: Malick Sidibe

Hi there, I came across the page while on orphan patrol and added the link to his photography only because I was curious about his photography and did a Google search. The article seemed pointlessly short and I thought a link might encourage someone else to dig deeper. I really have no other connection. I will take the opportunity to ask a question though. When you find an article like this and second a prod nom (or even originate one), do you do a G-search or other research to assess notability and what kind of criteria do you use? He gets a fair number of hits and his work is in several galleries. He's no Annie L, but should the same Ghit and review criteria apply to artists/persons/etc. that are from countries/cultures that are likely to be less represented by Western media? Do you feel there is an inevitable Western culture bias to our coverage? I am not saying lower standards should apply, but can lower numbers of Ghits be accepted? How can WP be a planetary collection of knowledge and still maintain standards? Any other thoughts along these lines. Truly, I have no ax to grind or objection to your prod, I am a newcomer and am looking for thoughts and guidance on these issues. I do appreciate your notifying me, if I had started the article or contributed to it, I would want to know. Thnks --killing sparrows 19:24, 1 April 2007 (UTC) Wow, a quick search found he has won a major photography award. What was your criteria for seconding? --killing sparrows 19:41, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
