Only When I Laugh (TV series)

Only When I Laugh was a British television sitcom made by Yorkshire Television for ITV between 1979 and 1982. It was set on a hospital ward.

It starred James Bolam, Peter Bowles and Christopher Strauli as patients. Their consultant surgeon was played by Richard Wilson and Gupte, the ward orderly from Delhi was played by Derrick Branche.

The long-running show was one of many successes for writer Eric Chappell and at the start of 2007 was enjoying a re-run on the UK terrestrial digital channel, ITV3.

SVT2 in Sweden have screened the whole series several times in peak time slots under the title Ett gott skratt which translates to A Good Laugh. This was most recently shown in late 2004 in a 7.30pm Saturday evening slot. In 1995 the show was remade in Sweden as Sjukan. [1]
