British singer Elkie Brooks achieved a UK top 40 hit with the song in 1978.
In 1990, English band Saint Etienne recorded a popular indie dance version of the song, which reached number one on the U.S. dance chart in 1992, after a re-release in 1991. Rapper/singer Everlast covered the song for the 1999 film Big Daddy. It was also covered by Psychic TV on The Bridge: A Tribute to Neil Young.
