Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II will be the fourth solo album from Wu-Tang Clan rap artist Raekwon. It will serve as a sequel to his 1995 album, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx..., and is to feature Wu-Tang members GZA and Inspectah Deck almost exclusively. Some tracks are the result of several Los Angeles studio sessions originally aimed at creating a new Clan album. [1]
Overview
The album is to be released as a joint venture between Wu-Tang and Dr. Dre's Aftermath Entertainment. Producers are set to include RZA, Dr. Dre, Scram Jones, Mathematics and Jay Dee. Nas has been approached about guest appearing as well as Mobb Deep, and Busta Rhymes (who is, informally, co-executive producing the project) will probably feature on the album as well[citation needed].
Similar to the first Cuban Linx album, Only Buil 4 Cuban Linx II will be set up in cinematic fashion, tying each song together in a sort of storyline, and each rapper playing an implied 'persona' of sorts; for instance, Raekwon is the main protagonist, with GZA and Inspectah Deck playing 'supporting roles' throughout. Other guests will also take Gambino personas as well[citation needed]. In the SCRATCH magazine article, they confirmed these tracks which were all produced by the RZA, "Thug World", "Rockstars & Smoking Barrels", "State Of Grace", "Kareem Khan" & "No Matter How Hard You Try". Recently Wu-Tang's DJ Allah Mathematics confirmed on his Myspace he will have song called "Mean Streets" featuring GZA & Inspectah Deck on the album.
Other rumours include the color purple being included on the album cover to pay homage to the purple cassette on which the first Only Built 4 Cuban Linx was released. According to RZA, the whole Wu-Tang Clan has been confirmed for appearances. Wu-Tang Corp
Most recently, it was announced on the Wu-Tang Corp. website that Raekwon's management has stated that the album is almost complete, and that production is credited to Dr. Dre and RZA equally.[citation needed] Raekwon stated on the recent Rock The Bells Tour that Cuban Linx 2 will be released in Summer 2007.[citation needed]
XXL Magazine ranked "Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II" the 6th most anticipated album of 2007. [2]
