[edit] Welcome to Wikipedia!

Hello OneofThem, welcome to Wikipedia!

Here are some tips:

If you feel a change is needed, feel free to make it yourself! Wikipedia is a wiki, so anyone (yourself included) can edit any article by following the Edit this page link. Wikipedia convention is to be bold and not be afraid of making mistakes. If you're not sure how editing works, have a look at How to edit a page, or try out the Sandbox to test your editing skills.

If, for some reason, you are unable to fix a problem yourself, feel free to ask someone else to do it. Wikipedia has a vibrant community of contributors who have a wide range of skills and specialties, and many of them would be glad to help. As well as the wiki community pages there are IRC Channels, where you are more than welcome to ask for assistance.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask me on my talk page. Thanks and happy editing, Alphax τεχ 10:06, 4 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] My User Page is (finally) up!

Hooray! It doesn't have much on it right now, but I was just sick of my signature on all of my comments being in red; it just screamed, "I'm a n00b with no User Page yet!" --OneofThem 14:35, 10 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Re: green snakes

Did you notice on which day I asked the question? :-) —Steve Summit (talk) 18:02, 18 March 2006 (UTC)

Yep! :) That's why I mentioned Saint Patrick. :P —OneofThem 00:24, 19 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Testing new signature

Well, here goes nothing! —OneofThem(talk)(contribs) 00:58, 19 March 2006 (UTC)

I'm supposing that the Talk page link isn't a link because that's where I am right now. :P —OneofThem(talk)(contribs) 00:58, 19 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Talk:List of banned books

I wish to inquire about why my post on the Talk Page of List of banned books was deleted by you on March 17th. You described the deletion as follows: "not relevant". I would assume that the deletion of someone else's material on a Talk Page would be deleted with a more detailed description of why. —OneofThem(talk)(contribs) 21:06, 14 April 2006 (UTC)

I'm really sorry about that - I was trying to remove the additions by 68.32.19.93. Those edits were discussing the wisdom or otherwise of banning books in America rather than the Wikipedia article on banned books so I thought they weren't relevant to that talk page. Unfortunately I wasn't careful enough and also removed your comment, which there was nothing wrong with. I've now restored it. Again, I'm really sorry about this - I'll try to be more careful in future. Hope I haven't annoyed you too much. --Cherry blossom tree 11:36, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
It's okay. :) I should actually be the one apologizing; I assumed that you were an anti-Harry Potter person who didn't want my comment to be seen. Thank you for restoring it. —OneofThem(talk)(contribs) 13:56, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
No, I think you've every right to be a bit miffed when a chap goes round removing your talk page comments, however accidentally. Glad you've taken it well though, Thanks. --Cherry blossom tree 23:55, 17 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hello

I want to put a pic on my userpage. I uploaded the image, but can't get it on my userpage, becasue I don't know how... I'll upload it again, and it'll say I already have a file like that, then give me my pic under an images tap, file, thingy. How can I view my image page, and how do I get my image on my user page, like you did... Thanks for the Help... —Ryan the Great 16:17, 15 July 2006 (UTC)

You use the following code:
  • IMAGE NAME - The name of the image on Wikipedia. (Yes, the image must be uploaded to Wikipedia first. Make sure it's a useful image, or else it'll be deleted.)
  • NUMBER - How big you want your picture to be displayed in your article. Insert a number here that represents the width of the picture in pixels. Try 300, for example.
  • CAPTION - Whatever text you want underneath the picture.
Also, try signing your comments with four tildes (~~~~). —OneofThem(talk)(contribs) 18:59, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
(EDIT: I added a signature to Ryan the Great's question so that I could clean up this page.) —OneofThem(talk)(contribs) 23:59, 15 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hey

I want my userboxes on another page like yours... Do I have to set up a whole new user profile for that? —Ryan the Great 14:42, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

Look at the URL for your user page. Add a slash ("/") and then a name, like "Userboxes". Hit ENTER, and when it says that no such page exists, add it. You don't need to set up another account. Also, please put the four tildes right after your comments. If you forget to, don't add another comment. Hit the "[edit]" button next to the title of the comment that you want to edit. —OneofThem(talk)(contribs) 15:38, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
(EDIT: another signature-related clean-up. :\ ) —OneofThem(talk)(contribs) 15:40, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
