Onesiphorus

Onesiphorus (name meaning "bringing profit") was a Christian of Ephesus who showed St. Paul great kindness while he was in Rome; he served him in much, and refreshed him often. In the Second Letter to Timothy Paul Prays for the apparently dead Onesiphorus.

Many claim that 2 Tim. 1:16-18 does not specify that Onesiphorus is dead. This is true, though it is the rational conclusion, based on the fact that he is only referred to in the past tense, and consolation is implicitly requested to be granted to his family as well.
